l’ancienne bergerie is situated at 700 meters on the hillside of the Valleé de la Bellongue in the Ariege department of the French Pyrenees.  Offering you “Table d’Hôte” dinner bed and breakfast holiday accommodation, or by arrangement  L’ancienne BERGERIE may be rented out on a weekly “Gite” basis with the option of catered evening meals.

We are ideally situated for those who enjoy walking & hiking in the higher mountains, or local valley walks, of which we are able to provide maps and route suggestions for different fitness levels.

Spring & summer offer a wide variety of mountain flora and fauna, for enthusiasts to enjoy and identify, also further activities of cycling and enjoying the Tour de France.

Winter & spring give the opportunity to explore the mountains using raquettes, (snow shoes), taking a slower pace; also cross country and downhill skiing at the local ski resorts of Le Mourtis (1350 m to 1860 m altitude) 40 mins, Guzet (1400 m altitude) 1 hour 10 mins, Peyragudes (1600 to 2400 m altitude) 1hr 30 mins. We are currently renovating the building, expecting to complete the work by October 2009. Having retained the rustic charm of L'ANCIENNE BERGERIE, we offer comfortable  holiday accommodation, providing 3 en suite rooms, sleeping 6/7, with a south facing living/dining room, which looks out to the terrace, private garden and grounds, onto the Pyrenean hills of the Valleé de la Bellongue.  

L'ANCIENNE BeRGERIE  is situated in the quiet "Hameau Le Chateau", a 10 minute walk below the picturesque village of Galey, with a bar, tabac, and restaurant. 

Dogs are welcome, by arrangement. Should you have any queries, we reside on site and will be happy to help with any arrangements.
